My account has reached its limit, what now?

In this article, we will explain what happens when you reach or exceed your account limit.

When you reach the maximum number of contacts in your subscription, it will not be automatically upgraded. Before this happens, you will receive an email from us in advance about approaching your limit. Through your personal portal, you can easily upgrade your account online. Read more information about upgrading your account here.

When you reach or exceed the contact limit, there are consequences as long as this number remains too high for the type of subscription you manage. You can unsubscribe contacts or upgrade your subscription. Below, we will explain to you the consequences of exceeding your limit:

It is not possible to add new contacts.

This depends on the method you use to add contacts to your account. Below you will find an overview of the most commonly used methods to add contacts and the consequences when the account reaches its limit.

  • Contacts are added via an API: When you use our open API or an integration from an external party to add contacts to your account, it is still possible to add contacts using this method after reaching the account limit.
  • Contacts are added via a MailBlue form: When you use a MailBlue form on your website or elsewhere, it is still possible to fill in the form and add these contacts to the account when reaching the account limit.
  • Manually import contacts: When reaching the account limit, it is no longer possible to import contacts using a CSV file.
  • Manually enter contacts via the Admin: When reaching the account limit, it is no longer possible to create a new contact by clicking on 'New Contact' on the contacts page.

It is no longer possible to create or send campaigns/emails

When your account reaches its limit, it is no longer possible to create or send a campaign/email. Once your account is upgraded, this will of course be possible again.

If you use the API to import contacts, you can exceed your limit by a maximum of 10% before it is no longer possible to create or send campaigns/emails.

Contacts will not be added to automations

When your account reaches its limit, automations will no longer be triggered for your contacts.

If you use the API to import contacts, you can exceed your limit by a maximum of 10% before it is no longer possible for the contacts to be triggered for the automations.

Only contacts who will receive an already created automated email within 24 hours will actually receive it. If a contact has to wait longer than 24 hours for an already created automated email, this email will not be sent to these individuals.

Once your account has been upgraded, you can start using the functionalities as you are used to, and everything will function as it normally does.
