A contact within MailBlue can be assigned different statuses. In this article, we will briefly explain them.
Active
An active contact is someone who has confirmed their subscription (in case of double opt-in), has not unsubscribed, and has not bounced.
An active contact can be added manually, through a form, or via a connection / API.
Active contacts count towards the contact limit of your subscription. Once an active contact unsubscribes or bounces, they are no longer considered active.
Unconfirmed
A contact is marked as 'Unconfirmed' when they sign up for a form with double opt-in but do not confirm it.
Unconfirmed contacts do not receive emails and cannot pass through an automation. They are only registered as active once they complete the confirmation. It is not allowed to manually set these contacts as active.
Unconfirmed contacts do not count towards the contact limit of your subscription.
Unsubscribed
A contact is marked as 'Unsubscribed' when they have unsubscribed from your emails via the unsubscribe link or when they are unsubscribed from a list by you or an automation.
Contacts unsubscribed from all lists do not count towards the contact limit of your subscription.
Bounced
Contacts are marked as 'Bounced' or 'Rejected' when the emails you sent are rejected by their email server. This can have various causes, for more information about the bounce status, read here.
