What is an exclusion list?

An exclusion list is a list of email addresses that do not receive campaigns and automation emails from you. In this article, we show how contacts can end up on this list.

These email addresses can be added to the list in different ways:

1. Manually added by an account user. You can add full email addresses or email addresses that start or end in a certain way to the list. Adding to this list does not change the contact's 'Active' status and they remain subscribed to the lists.

2. The contact has clicked on the link %unsubscribelink%&ALL in an email you sent to the customer

When a contact clicks on this unsubscribe link, you can find these contacts on the 'Manage exclusions' page. In this case, the contact is no longer 'Active' and therefore unsubscribed from any list.

3. The contact has marked you as spam. This cannot be viewed in your account due to privacy reasons. A contact added to the exclusion list in this way is unsubscribed from any list.

Where can I find the exclusion list?

You can find the exclusion list under 'Contacts' and then 'Exclusion list'

Here you can exclude the following:

  • A specific email address, this excludes a single contact.
  • A part of an email address (start or end). This excludes all contacts whose email address starts or ends with the data you provide.

You can also specify whether the email address should be excluded from receiving emails sent to all lists or a specific list.

How do I add one contact to the exclusion list?

  1. Click on 'Manage exclusions' and choose 'excludes email addresses that' for 'exact match'.

  2. Enter the email address you want to exclude

  3. Choose 'all lists' or 'one or more specific lists'

  4. If you choose 'one or more specific lists', then select all the lists you want to exclude. This means the contact will not receive emails sent to the respective list(s).

  5. Click  'Save'

  6. You can then find the email address under 'Manage exclusions'

You can then find the email address under 'Manage exclusions':

  1. Go to 'Contacts' and click on the 'Import' button
  2. Then click on 'Import from file'

How do I remove contacts from the exclusion list?

You can only remove these contacts yourself if:

  • You added the email address yourself
  • The contact has unsubscribed via the %UNSUBSCRIBELINK%&ALL link

To remove individual contacts, click on 'Remove'

Please note: If a contact has marked you as spam, you will not be able to find them on the list. If the contact wishes to be subscribed again, forward this to info@mailblue.nl. Make sure to also forward the contact's email message to confirm that they wish to be subscribed again.
