How can I see when a tag is added to a contact?

In this article, we will show you how to use an automation to keep track of when tags are added to contacts.

Please note: Generally, we strongly advise against making modifications to an active automation. This can lead to unexpected errors. Therefore, always set the automation to 'Inactive' before you start!

If it is a situation where it is necessary for the automation to be 'Active' (e.g. contacts starting at a specific point), it is better to set this aside.

Follow the steps below to get started:

  1. Go to the overview page of your created automations
  2. Select the desired automation with the action 'Add Tag'.
  3. Click the plus sign (+) below this actionAdd_action_2.png
  4. A 'New action to add' window will appear. Click on the option 'Contacts'.
  5. Click on the action 'Add Note'.Add_note.png
  6. Add the note you want to add to the contact when the contact receives the tag, for example:

  7. Click 'Close'.

Each contact that encounters the 'Add Note' action in your automation will have a note with a timestamp added to their account indicating when a tag was added.

You need to repeat the above steps for each tag you want to track.

Please note! Tags are not time-bound, and it is not possible to see when they were added. Only by using notes can you track when tags are added to future contacts. Additionally, it is not possible to use advanced searches or segments to see when tags are added to contacts.
