With the PayPal integration, you can send data from PayPal to your MailBlue account. This allows you to forward orders, create and update contacts, and even start an automation once an order is completed in PayPal.
Important to know:
- You need a MailBlue account and a PayPal account
- The integration is available with a MailBlue Lite, Plus, and Professional subscription
- The integration does not add contacts to a list. If you wish to do so, you can still do this in an automation
- PayPal fields can only be linked to existing fields in your MailBlue account. New fields are not automatically created
- If you change the email address linked to your PayPal account, you will need to reactivate the integration in MailBlue
How does the integration work?
You can choose to load data when one of the following events occurs:
- An order is approved in PayPal
- An order is completed in PayPal
When contacts are added to your MailBlue account via PayPal, they will be tagged with the following:
- paypal-integration
- paypal-integration-EVENT_NAME
Once you have set up the integration, you will also see a new automation trigger in your MailBlue account, indicating that a PayPal event has occurred. You can find the start trigger under the 'CX Apps' tab in a MailBlue automation. This trigger can be used to send automated emails after a purchase or to ask your customers for feedback, for example.
How do I make the integration?
- In your MailBlue account, click on 'Apps' in the menu
- Enter 'PayPal' in the search field
- Click on the PayPal app
- Click on 'Connect Account' and then 'Connect'
- You will be asked to log in to your PayPal account. Click on 'Log in'
- To grant MailBlue access, click on 'Agree'
- Click on 'Add New Resource'
- Click on 'Select' to choose your PayPal account
- Use the dropdown menus to select a resource and event type. Then click on 'Continue'
- You will need to link the fields from PayPal to fields in your MailBlue account. Click 'Finish' once you are done
Your PayPal account is now linked. Customer information will be automatically forwarded to your MailBlue account once they complete the action you selected for resource and event (step 10).
How can I re-link fields?
If you want to re-link your fields, you can always do so!
- Open the PayPal app in your MailBlue account under 'Apps' and click on 'Linked Apps > PayPal'
- Click on the resource for which you want to change the fields

- Click on the trash can icon next to the resource you want to remove
- Click on 'Remove' in the modal
- This will remove the resource, but your PayPal account will still be linked
